I see the Universe in small things.

When days sit wild outside my door
and I am longing for the rush of melting snow.
Birdsong abundant,
the smell of wet earth
soft beneath my feet.

We bound out the door,
sunshine gleams in my hair.
Furry paws stepping carelessly on path, rock, twig, mud...

I am wild with delight.
Fresh air fills my lungs,
fills my soul.

I stop every so often to look up.
I listen,
I feel ,
I smell.
I take it all in.

And every so often I see the universe in the small things.
A decaying leaf,
constellations mapped out with twigs on the forest floor,
starlight smattered across tree bark with moss + lichen.

These are good days.

These are holy days.

I am whole.

Saltwater for Blood

Are you a mountain person
or an ocean person?

Sea sprite or wood nymph?

Do you need the calm + quiet of the forest and the protection of tree giants? Or does your spirit require salt on your skin + sand between your toes?

Do you crave elevation?
To take deep + pure breaths.
Or feel the need to climb up + touch the ever-loving sky?

Does your heart sync into an ever constant rhythm with the waves under its full moon commands?
Pushed + pulled by the ebbing energy sent magnetically to earth by Luna?

Or are you like me, do you need both to feel complete?
Like you have saltwater for blood, stars in your eyes + inhale thin mountain air just to be able to be?

Days Like This...

I am longing for days that look like this.

Days that are green.
With late afternoon sunlight
that cascades a warm golden glow over everything it touches.
Those days where you can smell the scent wet earth, decomposing leaves and of pine pitch as it warms throughout the day.
Days where I can stand alone, but never be alone.
Yes, days like this...

Since posting last: Some photos + some happenings

I keep saying to myself that I am going to post here...
And then time whizzes by.
Some days, I don't even know how the world seems to turn so quickly.

There has been a lot on my mind lately, but as much as I am told I am good at communicating, sometimes I just feel like I can't put it all into words. Or that I have enough words.
We have been trying to manifest a move, a super life change. It is taking a while, a good + solid lesson on patience, I guess (not my forte). But I feel things shifting, our new life drawing nearer and I am riled with excitement from deep down. Some days I can barely sit still or focus.

Anyway, here are a few things that are either going on or have happened since my last (and very distant) post:

1. We have gotten a butt-load of snow. I mean like record breaking! It is starting to melt now though (Hooray! I am ready for green and less clothing!)

2. I bought myself a bathing suit on a whim the other day (you know, just to be ready)- now I just need to get my butt in bathing suit wearing condition, ha! Do you have any favorite ways to get in shape? Or a type of movement that you enjoy?

3. I moved my shop/website to a new space. The old etsy shop is still up and running, but I am looking to move away from that platform, maybe all together. You can find Little Owl HERE.
I would love to know your thoughts! Do you like the look, the layout, etc.?

4. Also, I have many new things in the works for Little Owl, some of which are new designs and new styles to be brought in. I have a new print on a new dress style that you can find HERE.
Also, there are now a few men's tees in the shop as well!!!

5. We were totally sucked into this and now I pout every once in a while because we can't watch the 3rd season yet. Boo!

6. I was super excited to do a trade with this awesome lady.
I am totally in love with her work, make sure you pop by her shop and take a look!

7. I have been having itchy feet and the immense feeling of wanderlust. We are planning a trip later this spring. Hopefully flying into Denver and traveling down to northern New Mexico.
I. Can't. Wait.

8. I have never been a runner, but lately all I want to do is go for a jog (read: run a little, walk a little, repeat. Especially since I have 2 puppies + a 13 year old dog who likes to take her time).

9. I signed up for a nature exchange. So fun!
(I hope I can find a few things to send under all this snow!)

10. For my birthday a few months ago I gifted myself this.
I have been wanting this deck for ages and it was a great decision.

11. I have taken quite a few photos since my last post.
If you want to see some more, make sure to pop on over HERE to see...

p.s.
I am having an impromptu sale in the new shop right now!
20% off your entire order, just use the code SHINEON20.
It runs until 1:54 pm, tomorrow.

Super Sale!

So I picked up stock from the local holiday pop up shop that I was a part of and as much stock as I moved there, I still had more than I thought when I came home.
Now my studio is in disarray (at lease more so than usual) and my storage bins won't close!

So, I think a sale is in order.
Help me make space in my studio! To get 30% off anything in the shop, simply use the code WOOHOO30 at checkout. I will be honest, I have no idea how long I will run this sale for, but there are already a few things that are out of stock since it has started... So now is the time to grab yourself that Little Owl item you've been pining for!

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and most joyous New Year!
xx

Setting Intentions + A Giveaway

UPDATE:
Congrats to Katrin for winning the spot in Darcey's Every Day Sacred  28 Day Journey!

***************************************

Hello Friends, Happy New Year!
It has been a whirlwind and I can't believe how long it has been since the last post. I had full intentions of posting between then and now, but you know how it goes...

I am not really a New Years person. Actually, I am not at all. But I do try to set intentions and goals for myself throughout the year. I normally begin my new year (if you will) around the Solstice, the longest day of the year. It is a perfect time to start setting intentions, dreaming, manifesting and conjuring, as the days inevitably stretch and grow longer...

This year my intention is to integrate my connection with the plant world with my art more. Also, I would like to deepen my knowledge of mycology. I know so many beautiful, amazing and talented herb folk, they are constantly inspiring and reminding me (whether they know it or not) where my "roots" lie. And for that I am ever-grateful.

Darcey, from Shamana Flora is one such individual. A gifted sister who lets her soul flow free and is one with the plants. She offers phenomenal, hand crafted herbals, but also plant courses.
Darcey is sweet enough to be giving away a space to kindred spirit in her upcoming Every Day Sacred 28 day journey!

A little insight about this journey with Darcey:

For the length of the First Moon Cycle of 2015- Join Herbalist, Darcey Blue, for daily practices, journeys, challenges and plant wisdom delivered to your inbox to invite the Sacred into your EVERYDAY for 2015. At completion you will have a toolbox available to you for the rest of the year to create sacred moments, ceremony and connection with your plant medicines and allies on a daily basis. Includes online community sharing space.

To enter, simply leave a comment!

If you don't know what to say, feel free to tell me what your favorite plant is, leave a recipe, something about yourself, or just say hi. Oh, and make sure to leave your email.
I will be choosing a winner January 8th.
Feel free to share this post with your friends!

xx
